Osburn and Goodnight Office
711 Bayliss, Midland,MI
Designed Alden B. Dow FAIA in 1963
The working drawings and specifications for an office building for the CPA firm of Osburn and Goodnight were completed on April 30, 1964. Gerace Construction Company of Midland served as general contractor for its successful bid of $42,257 for the project.
The 2,370 square foot single-story building has an overhanging hip roof over exterior walls of tan brick. Broad picture windows face the street while tall narrow windows are spaced along the side walls. The entry is recessed under one corner of the projecting roof. The basically square floor plan features a reception area, two offices, a conference room, an open office area that includes three cubicles, a machine room, and a vault.
Approximately one-third of the floor space along one side of the building was separate from the CPA offices. It was designated on the original drawings as rental space and housed two offices and its own entry and reception area.
