This is the only residence in Midland designed by T. Keith Blair AIA. His brother Etcyl had moved to Midland to work for Dow Chemical in 1951 and by the mid-1950s needed a larger home for his wife and three sons. Construction started in September 1956 with James Schmidt as the builder. The Blairs moved in March 11, 1957
