1922-2012
Harvey “Cle” Allison was born in 1922 in Saginaw Michigan. He graduated
from the University of Michigan’s School of Architecture in 1948, and moved to
Midland that same year to begin work for Alden B. Dow Associates Inc. He
became a registered architect in 1954 and served as Vice President and
Treasurer of the firm, until 1971 when he was elected President and Chief
Executive Officer.
In addition to designing his own home, Mr. Allison was the project manager
for many commercial projects and played a significant role in designing
the “Pink Palace” (Dow building) and Northwood Institute in Midland, the Ann
Arbor City Hall and the McMorran Memorial Auditorium in Port Huron.
During his career he served as president of the Saginaw Valley Chapter of the
American Institute of Architects and served as Midland’s mayor from
1962-1968.
