He graduated from Union College in Schenectady, NY in 1913 with a Bachelor of Engineering degree.  He then completed his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1915.  Clarence Bridge moved to Midland MI with his wife Maude and two sons from Charlevoix to work for Dow Chemical until retirement in 1958.  While not listed as an AIA member, he followed a passion for architecture and construction throughout his career, building his first residence from the Sears Roebuck Catalog of Homes in Midland in 1929.

He is identified as a builder of at least 10 homes and is listed on several of these as architect from 1953 through 1959.  The Bruder Residence at 3809 Applewood was the featured design in the Homes Section of the Midland Daily News 12-15-1958.  The Bruder Residence later became the inspiration for the design of the Pedersen Residence at 3812.  His structures range in style from traditional ranch to Mid-Century Modern.

The Bridge Residence at 1309 North Parkway was completed in 1958 with private plans. It is a mid-century design situated on a .9-acre lot in a neighborhood featuring others designed by Alden B Dow, Jackson Hallet, Glen Beach, Robert Schwartz, and Harvey Allison.
