In 1958 Blackhurst Reality engaged Alden B. Dow’s Firm, known then as Alden B. Dow, Inc., to create three modest house designs they could modify and duplicate. These houses were not designed for individual clients, rather they were designed as spec homes that incorporated the mid-Century modern design characteristics.
